Floods have left nine dead and several missing in Emilia-Romagna, the region of Bologna. Several lowland towns were flooded, more than 13,000 people had to be evacuated and 50,000 homes are without electricity.

In Cesena, on the Adriatic Sea, the Savio River has reached an unprecedented level. The Italian Civil Protection said 14 rivers had burst their banks between Tuesday and Wednesday and that 23 municipalities were flooded. The Formula 1 Imola Grand Prix, scheduled for this weekend, was cancelled.
