Andrey Rublev won his first Masters 1000 by winning Sunday in the final in Monte-Carlo against the formidable Dane Holger Rune. The 25-year-old Russian almost led 5-1 in the deciding set before turning things around.

Rublev had won the super tie break of the fifth set: after saving two match balls, he had the help of the net to score the last point. In 2021, Rublev reached the finals of the Masters 1000 in Monte Carlo and Cincinnati, but lost to Stefanos Tsitsipas and Alexander Zverev.
