[HIGHLIGHTS] Millions of widows are "under guardianship". How does Egypt reform the "Hasabi Council"?

Coinciding with the controversy sparked by the series "Under Guardianship", women's voices have risen in Egypt demanding the need to reform the laws and procedures governing the work of the "Hasabi Council" in the country. The number of families in Egypt reaches 25.5 million, according to statistics from the Central Agency for Public Mobilization and Statistics (CAPMAS), in which the number of widows reaches about 3 million.

The percentage of working women rose to 90.7% in 2020, compared to 86% in 2017.
