More than 800 birds have been found dead on a small island in Råstasjön in Solna. The dead birds are almost exclusively laughing gulls, but there are also the occasional herring gull.

A fox cub was also found that turned out to have bird flu, probably infected after feeding on infected, dead birds. Dog owners are advised not to let dogs move unleashed next to these lakes. The virus settles on the brain and the bird suffers from meningitis. The bird becomes wobbly and behaves strangely before dying.
