Suspected jihadists attacked a camp housing alleged Russian military instructors in central Mali on Saturday (April 22nd), two local elected officials and a diplomatic source said. Two Malian military officials also confirmed that the attack took place in the town of Sévaré, in the Mopti region.

From 5:30 GMT, four loud explosions were heard, followed by automatic weapon fire, several people at the scene told AFP. The Malian junta had begun working with what it calls Russian "instructors" by 2022.
