The historic San Miguel Market has been evicted and cordoned off this afternoon by the Local Police and the Firefighters of Madrid. The building located in the Plaza de San Miguel, next to the Plaza Mayor, was under construction and after an inspection by the Madrid City Council, the technicians have detected that there could be danger.

Until it is verified that those responsible adopt the necessary security measures, the market will remain closed. It is estimated that over the weekend it can reopen. The market was inaugurated as a food market more than a hundred years ago.
