Lukashenka made the corresponding statement at the plenary session of the II Eurasian Economic Forum. He also clarified that at that time the President of Ukraine Leonid Kuchma took part in the dialogue.

At the same time, he added that he himself did not really believe in the development of the project, because of the situation that began to take shape in the post-Soviet space. Earlier, the Belarusian leader said that cooperation between the EAEU and the BRICS and the SCO would lead to the creation of the largest association.
