In Marseille, in the 15th arrondissement, the sidewalks have disappeared, covered by a mountain of bulky waste that overflows on the road. With its environmental police launched last year, the municipality claims 230 flagrante delicto.
The Marseille metropolis is planning a major clean-up next week, but to avoid recurrence, the deputy mayor for security promises the installation of mobile cameras. "We are able to move them when delinquency, too, moves," reports Jean-Yves Sayag.
