The conditions for evacuation in Sudan are significantly better than those in Afghanistan, says former pilot Robert Karjel. The fact that Sweden acts swiftly, that the Riksdag and the government are well-coordinated and that there is political agreement means that the conditions are good, he says.

"A civil war situation like this is really the worst imaginable in terms of what could happen," he says, adding that the great distances make it even more difficult. But he is convinced that the Armed Forces have the skills and experience required to be able to carry out the operation.
