Gregor Gysi, co-founder of the Left Party, sees himself as partly responsible for the miserable state of his party. The party has been stuck in the polls for years and almost flew out of parliament in the 2021 federal election.
The dispute over the most famous comrade Sahra Wagenknecht escalated again and again. "I feel sorry for him. He doesn't deserve that either, although he himself created the causes for it," he says of his old companion Oskar Lafontaine.
