President of the Republic of Kosovo has called for new elections in the disputed region. The region has been at the center of a political crisis since the fall of the Serbian government in 2008.
The U.S. government has been trying to get the region back on its path to peace. The European Union has also called for the return of the region to its pre-war state of Kosovo, which has been ruled by the U.N. since 1998. The EU has also demanded that the region be given back its right to self-determination, which it has lost since 2008.
