The head of the international committee of the Federation Council, Grigory Karasin, did not support those who tore down the flag of Ukraine. Karasin said that the flag did not leave the commonwealth, and that the action was not against it, but in support of it.

On April 4, a court in Moscow sentenced a man to one and a half years of forced labor for using smoke bombs in the colors of the Ukrainian flag. The man was accused of using the smoke bombs to create a smokescreen to hide the flag's presence.
