The U.S. will announce new sanctions against "those involved in supplying weapons from Iran to Russia" Iran has provided Russia with more than 400 drones and artillery shells for use in Ukraine.

In return, Tehran is seeking billions of dollars worth of attack helicopters, radars and training planes. Moscow has denied that it has used Iranian drones in the Ukraine war, which began in February 2022. The United States imposed sanctions on suppliers of Iranian drones, which Moscow used to target civilian infrastructure in Ukraine, in January.
