Tehran's stance came on the fifth anniversary of former US President Donald Trump's announcement of his country's withdrawal from the agreement on Iran's nuclear program. Since April 2021, Iran and major powers have engaged in talks aimed at reviving the agreement in which the United States has indirectly participated.

Although progress has been made in these talks, they have not reached the stage of understanding to reactivate the agreement. The issue of the IAEA's finding of traces of nuclear material at undeclared sites was a key point of divergence during talks to revive the deal.
