The Australian government unveiled on Monday a major revision of its military doctrine. The measure is explicitly aimed at deterring China from using force in the Indo-Pacific region.

Of the announced budget of $19 billion, a large part will be devoted to the acquisition of long-range missiles, its navy and the reinforcement of military bases located in the north of the country. This military equipment program is in addition to the development, announced a few weeks ago, of a fleet of nuclear-powered submarines as part of the Aukus Pact.
