Fighting breaks out in Sudan, especially in the capital Khartoum and in the Darfur region. 74 people were killed in the first two days of fighting on 24 and 25 April, says doctors' union.

A three-day truce between the army and paramilitaries expired at midnight on Thursday. More than 500 people have been killed in nearly two weeks of fighting, says the UN. The fighting has caused a mass exodus in this country, one of the poorest in the world.
