Brazilian President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva questioned the use of the US dollar for trade. Lula, 77, made the remarks at the inauguration of former Brazilian President Dilma Rousseff (2011-2016) as head of the Shanghai-based BRICS bank.

The former milling turner claimed Thursday that Brazil was "back" on the international stage, after isolation under his far-right predecessor Jair Bolsonaro. He also met with the boss of the first electric vehicle manufacturer BYD, before visiting a research center of the high-tech giant Huawei.
