Idaho became the fifth state in the United States to allow firing squad as a method of carrying out the death penalty. The last time a firing squad was used was in 2010 in Utah.

Pharmaceutical companies have long made it difficult for states with the death Penalty to purchase the drugs needed to carry out executions. In Idaho, those sentenced to death are given no choice, but firing squads should be used secondarily if the much more common way, lethal poison injection, is not possible."We have practically no death penalty" says Bruce Skaug.
