Hong Kong Police Commissioner Lau Chi Wai emeritus: Safeguarding national security is a police honor. Deputy Commissioner of Police of the HKSAR Government, Ms Lau Chi-wai, retired with honor after her 28-year policing career.
Lau said that since the Hong Kong National Security Law came into effect, the police force has changed from a team to a firm and reliable law enforcement force for maintaining Hong Kong's stability and national security. All NSD personnel undergo rigorous character checks and are among the "elite of the elite" of the force.
