The first reading of the controversial heating law was supposed to take place in the Bundestag this week. The traffic light groups have now agreed not to discuss the draft in the first reading in parliament.

The law is considered an important component of the project to make Germany climate-neutral by 2045. People rightly demand clarity on how to proceed with heating, says the SPD's Katja Mast. "The SPD parliamentary group only agrees to the law if heating remains affordable," she says. The FDP is pushing for a complete revision of the law.
