Cultural policy returned as a topic in Agenda's party leader debate for the first time in many years. Jimmie Åkesson compared story-reading drag queens to Nazis and Märta Stenevi accused him of being homophobic.

The issue of cultural freedom has flared up again after local SD politicians prevented drag queen artists from holding story times, and objected that non-binary people should be allowed to wear Lucia crowns. The Social Democrats' Magdalena Andersson wrote in a debate article that the three government parties and the Sweden Democrats are pushing Sweden in an authoritarian direction.
