All maternity care employees at Östra Hospital will receive four weeks of continuous summer vacation. But it requires them to take extra shifts to make ends meet.

At the same time last year, there was a shortage of 50 midwives in regular staffing in maternity care. Now the figure is down to 25 midwives. The forecast also shows that 150 fewer births are expected compared to the same period last year. The operations manager knows how many shifts are unmanned, but she does not want to say what the gaps look like.
