Former British Prime Minister Gordon Brown says Russian President Vladimir Putin will face a crisis this summer. Brown said a new grassroots campaign demanding Putin be prosecuted for war crimes was mounting.

He added that more than half a million people in South Africa have now called for Putin to be arrested if he comes home to participate in the BRICS summit in Johannesburg next August. Russia remains adamant that Putin will attend the summit, but a special government committee set up by South African President Cyril Ramaphosa concluded that Putin's presence would violate international law.
