Joao Almeida wins the 16th stage of the Giro d'Italia in Monte Bondone. Briton Geraint Thomas is now 18 seconds ahead of his Portuguese rival in the overall standings.
Primoz Roglic of Slovenia is third in the stage and overall, 29 seconds behind Thomas. Bruno Armirail, sublimated by the pink jersey, conceded more than four minutes to logically lose his leader's jersey that he wore with pride for two stages. The fourth, Italian Damiano Caruso, is already almost three minutes away overall.
