Former Indian MP Atiq Ahmad and his brother were shot dead in an attack in northern India during a live TV broadcast. The incident occurred in the city of Prayagraj in Uttar Pradesh.

Three attackers arrived on motorcycles, posing as journalists, and shot them at close range. In 2019, 60-year-old Ahmad was taken into custody after he was found guilty of kidnapping lawyer Umesh Pal, who testified against him as a witness in the 2005 murder of an MP. The attackers surrendered to police after the shooting.
