Volahanmi Aina, a political analyst at Britain's Royal United Services Institute, warned that the war in Sudan may have stirred a hornet's nest in the region. The spread of fighting between the Sudanese army and the Rapid Support Forces outside the capital Khartoum could affect the stability of neighboring Chad, for example, as well as the Central African Republic.

Aina suggested that what he called authoritarian regimes may seek to benefit from the services of armed organizations such as Wagner to achieve their goals.
