Researchers have successfully developed a method for synthetic synthetic synthesis of dietary protein using artificial photosynthesis. The new method is more efficient and productive in the manufacture of proteins due to its use of less space and renewable energy.

In the new method, cobalt-based molecular catalysts are used to increase the efficiency of hydrolyzing water into hydrogen and oxygen. hydrogen is synthesized with environmentally harmful carbon dioxide, after being removed from the atmosphere, to form methanol, a feedstock and a key compound important for food production, solvents and synthetic fuels.
