Thirty years after the racist arson attack in Solingen, German President Frank-Walter Steinmeier has called for a vigilant state against right-wing extremist violence. Steinmeier: For far too long, the country has been succumbing to the allegation of the deluded lone perpetrators.

The attack is considered one of the most serious racist crimes in the country's history. Solingen marked the culmination of a whole series of xenophobic crimes in first half of the nineties in the Federal Republic.
