Experts who spoke to Beyond the News acknowledged the difficulty of foreign interventions in ending the fighting in Sudan. They said that the sanctions threatened by Washington on both sides of the conflict could give them a chance to continue fighting.

UN expert Abdelhamid Siam said the UN is the only party that can contact the two warring parties from inside Sudan, but it does not have real means. The director of the Geneva Center for Security and Strategic Studies in Africa, David Otto Andley, said that talking about a ceasefire in Sudan remains just talk.
