Sweden's climate goals have become irrelevant and may be abandoned, according to a new report. The EU adopted a new climate law that states that the Union must reduce its emissions by 55 percent by 2030 compared to 1990.

By 2050, the EU will be climate neutral. If Sweden fails to live up to EU requirements, it can be taken to an EU court and forced to pay large fines, says Magnus Nilsson of the Expert Group for Studies in Public Economics (ESO), which operates under the Ministry of Finance.
