Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan appoints Ibrahim Kalin as intelligence chief. Kalin replaces Hakan Fidan, who took over as foreign minister.

Fidan had been the head of intelligence since 2010. Mehmet Şimşek was appointed finance minister, Ali Yerlikaya as interior minister, and Yaşar Guler as defense minister, the latter being the chief of staff of the Turkish Armed Forces. Musa Oswar, commander of the ground forces, will head the General Staff temporarily until another head is appointed.
