The government of the Democratic Republic of Congo filed a complaint on Tuesday (May 23rd) at the International Criminal Court (ICC) in The Hague, Netherlands. The request aims to prosecute and punish those responsible for serious violations of international humanitarian law and human rights laws.

The M23 are accused of killing civilians, more than 300 according to Kinshasa, 170 for the UN, between 30 and 50 according to human rights organizations. This is not the first time Congolese authorities have said they are referring the case to the ICC.
