The USA, the UK, the EU and the UN Mission in the Democratic Republic of Congo (MONUSCO) reacted to the repression of a demonstration by the Congolese opposition. The brutal methods used to disperse the movement provoked strong emotion.

The United States speaks of a "disproportionate use of force" and the European Union calls for an investigation. The UK says it is deeply concerned by the images of police violence, but also welcomes the government's action "to hold accountable the responsible members of the security forces"
