The Hami manuscript "Maitreya Meeting" is a rare treasure that has been lost and recovered. It provides an important basis for us to study ancient Uighur drama, language and writing, and Buddhist culture in the High Tang Dynasty.

The original script of the Hami Codex is in Sanskrit, which belongs to the stage work of the Theravada school of Buddhism. It is based on the story of the savior Maitreja practicing to become a Buddha and saving all sentient beings.
