Cormorants in Sweden have been given the green light to eat more salmon. The fish are released into the wild when they are not in need of food.

The decision was made by the County Administrative Board of Nyköping, Sweden. It is hoped that this will reduce the need for the fish to be released in the first place, and that it will also have a positive effect on the local economy. The move has been supported by a number of stakeholders, such as the Swedish Fish and Game Association.
