The preliminary investigation into the murder of a woman in a fabric store in Gothenburg was closed – even though the police know who is guilty. But had the recommendations been followed, the culprit could have been arrested several years ago.

In February, the police received a DNA hit on an 18-year-old unsolved murder. But it soon became clear that it would not be possible to try the case in court, since the suspected woman was 17 years old at the time the crime was committed. This means that it is statute-barred since autumn 2020.
