Two Iranian border guards killed and two wounded in clashes with Afghan forces. Clashes broke out between the two sides in the Afghan province of Nimroz on the border with Iran.

The incident comes in the context of tensions over the distribution of water from the Helmand River. Iran accuses Kabul of violating a 1973 agreement by reducing the flow of water to Iran's drought-ridden eastern regions. Afghanistan has denied the accusation and says water levels have fallen as a result of "severe drought" in the region.
