The European Commission's proposal on how online giants and platforms should act against online abuse material has been hotly debated. Opponents have dubbed the proposal "chat control," accusing it of being far too vigilant in its zeal to find perpetrators.

The Legal Service of the EU Council of Ministers has examined the proposal and warns that it is likely to be condemned by the EU Court of Justice if it becomes reality, as it looks right now. German Pirate Party member and MEP Patrick Breyer now hopes that Sweden will make sure to "immediately remove the general chat control" from the bill.
