Forsmark 1 and 2 were forced to shut down their electricity production on Wednesday as a result of a short circuit at Svenska kraftnät's station Hagby, north of Stockholm. The short circuit caused a major power outage in the Stockholm region and contributed to sharply increased electricity prices throughout the country on Thursday.
Vattenfall announced that Forsmark 1 is ready for restart on Thursday morning. Forsmark 2 needs further inspection and will not be put back into use until Friday evening.
