Burkina Faso authorities are under pressure to shed light on the Karma massacre. More than 150 civilians were executed by armed men in Yatenga province.

Survivors of the attack denounce a reprisal operation, led by the army against the villagers, accused of supporting the terrorists. The Collective against Impunity and Stigmatization of Communities (CISC) has been conducting investigations to document this massacre while accompanying the victims, refugees in Ouahigouya. The CISC reports 136 bodies found in Karma, including "50 women and 21 children", including "babies less than thirty days old killed on the backs of their mothers"
