Chinese astronomers say they are the first to find chemical evidence of the existence of "unstable supernovae" (PISN) PISN is formed by the evolution of the first generation of supermassive stars in silver halo stars. Previous theoretical studies had predicted existence of this particular supernova, but it had never been observed.

First generation of stars brought the first light to the universe, was the starting point for the end of the dark ages, and dominated chemical enrichment process and evolutionary history of the early universe.
