The ruling RHDP party and the opposition Ivorian Popular Front (FPI) signed a partnership agreement in Abidjan on Tuesday afternoon, May 2. This is the first time that a ruling political party has reached an agreement on democracy with an opposition party.

The agreement aims to break with cycles of violence, which have destabilized the country in the past. It took months of discussions to reach this agreement, according to Ibrahim Cissé Bacongo, the executive secretary of the RHDP.
