Haitian-Chilean businessman Rodolphe Jaar has been sentenced to life imprisonment for his involvement in the assassination of the country's president Jovenel Moise. Jaar was charged with conspiracy to commit murder or kidnapping outside the United States and providing logistical support to a group of Colombian mercenaries who shot Moise dead.

He is one of 11 people arrested and charged in the U.S. for Moïse's murder, and the only one who has pleaded guilty so far. The other 10 arrested are awaiting jury trials.
