Burkina Faso decreed Thursday the "general mobilization" in order to "give the State all the necessary means" to face the attacks that strike. The precise contours of this mobilization have not been detailed.

Last week, 44 civilians were killed when two villages in the north-east of the country near the Nigerien border were attacked. Over the past seven years, more than 10,000 people have been killed – civilians and soldiers – according to NGOs, and some two million people has been displaced.
