Brussels takes note of the declaration of a state of emergency in Italy. More than 3,000 people have arrived in the country in the last three days.
The EU has lacked a migration policy since 2015, when the so-called refugee crisis was generated. Closing the asylum pact will be one of the priorities of the Spanish Presidency of the Council, which starts on 1 July. The issue has gone from being a star issue on the EU agenda to one forgotten and eclipsed by the successive crises.
