Burkina Faso passed the 2 million IDP mark at the end of March. This was announced Friday, May 12, by the National Council for Relief and Rehabilitation (Conasur) Many inhabitants, mostly children, have fled their homes because of the threat of armed terrorist groups.
The Sahel, Centre-North and to a lesser extent North and East regions host three-quarters of these IDPs. Most of these displaced people are in their 2nd or 3rd displacement.
