Takeshi Kitano presents in Cannes (out of competition) "Kubi", an epic fresco in feudal Japan. The 76-year-old jack-of-all-trades director is back on the Croisette with what could be his last feature film.
A big-budget production by Japanese standards (1.5 billion yen, or more than 10 million euros), "kubi" is also Kitano's most expensive film to date. The film's project's project only entered its concrete phase in 2019, when he wrote and published an eponymous novel in Japan.
