Nominee for the leadership of the Sweden Democrats, Runar Filper, is leaving the party. Filper's replacement, Mikael Strandman, says he does not have the support of the rest of the party to succeed him.

The nomination vote will be held on November 14. The final decision on the leadership will be made on November 19. The party has a majority in the Swedish parliament, the Riksdag, but not in the national parliament, which is up for election on November 25.
