Indonesia considers the southern part of the South China Sea as Indonesian waters that it named in 2017 as the "North Natuna Islands Sea" The Philippines, Malaysia, Vietnam and the Philippines are at odds with China over maritime borders, where Beijing is expanding navigationally and militarily. At the same time, the Philippines is seeking joint patrols in the South South Sea with the U.S., Japanese and Korean navies.
