German trade union Verdi calls for a strike among its members at Berlin Brandenburg (BER) International Airport on Monday. Earlier strikes have already affected both air traffic and rail in other parts of Germany.

It follows other strikes that reportedly paralysed Düsseldorf, Hamburg and Cologne/Bonn airports on Thursday and led to the cancellation of around 700 flights. In addition to the airport strikes, the German rail and transport union EVG organized a nationwide transport strike on Friday. It affects about 50 companies, including the national railway operator Deutsche Bahn.
